ReadAI is a browser extension that helps you understand text while reading on the web. This policy explains what data ReadAI handles and how.
When you highlight text and trigger an explanation, the highlighted text and its surrounding paragraph are sent directly from your browser to Groq's API using your own API key. This is the only data transmission that occurs.
ReadAI does not collect any personal information. ReadAI does not store your highlighted text. ReadAI does not have a server or backend of any kind. ReadAI does not use analytics or tracking. ReadAI does not share any data with third parties beyond Groq's API, which you connect to directly using your own account and key.
Your Groq API key is stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in extension storage. It is never transmitted to anyone except Groq's API directly from your browser.
ReadAI downloads a dictionary dataset on first use and stores it locally in your browser's IndexedDB. This download happens once from a public dataset. No personal data is involved.
ReadAI uses the following third party services which have their own privacy policies. Groq API for AI explanations — groq.com/privacy-policy. Free Dictionary API for word definitions — dictionaryapi.dev.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
If you have questions about this privacy policy, you can reach out via the extension's store listing page.
